In early 2022, Lyft already had a comprehensive Machine Learning Platform called LyftLearn composed of model serving , training , CI/CD, feature serving , and model monitoring systems. On the real-time front, LyftLearn supported real-time inference and input feature validation. However, streaming data was not supported as a first-class citizen across many of the platform’s systems — such as training, complex monitoring, and others.

In this blog post, I put ChatGPT 3.5 through its paces by getting it to help me create a small project, namely a reverse proxy server: a locally running server that will fetch web pages and re-render them for me. The post is split into two parts. In the first part I get the reverse proxy server up and running. Introduction On the 9th of March in the year 2023 or our era, Topiary was born or, at least, its version 0.1.0 was released. Thus began the quest to package it, to make it available in various ecosystems. Topiary is a universal formatter engine written in Rust and packaged with Cargo. Packaging it in nixpkgs was a breeze because of nixpkgs’ support for Rust, but mostly because someone else did it for us , for which we have to thank our contributor figsoda.
