The advantage of the pay-as-you-go model is that we pay only for what we have consumed and can scale down resources when needed.     • AWS: It is the most cost-effective cloud model that offers over 200 cloud services, each of which has its own pay-as-you-go pricing system. If we choose to run an application in EC2 virtual server, we need to pay for computing resources by an hour or second or, we could use an AWS storage solution and pay based on the size of the objects we store and duration of storage.     • Mailchimp: It is an email marketing platform, that offers a credit-based pay-as-you-go plan. In this case we can buy as many or as few email credits as per our need. Each email credit can be used to send an email, and credits expire after twelve months.

    There are following pay-as-you-go plans that come in two main types.

    • Consumption-Based: In this plan, the more we use a certain resource (like transactions, storage, bandwidth, minutes, and so on), the more we pay. Ex: We don’t need to pay for any monthly fee or subscription charges, just pay-per-use price for each transaction.
    • Credit-Based: In this plan, we purchase credits that can be exchanged for a service, so we purchase a service in advance and then use it. Ex: - Audible service lets us purchase audiobooks for credits as we get credits every month as we are on a subscription plan.

    •  Predictability Limited: There is a high dependency on usage as high variables workloads can be challenging.
    • Unlimited capacity: We can essentially purchase an unlimited number of On-Demand Instances at any given time.
    • Increased options: These can run most types of compute workloads.

    Cons of On-Demand

    More Expensive: These are most expensive compared to Reserved and Spot Instances as we need to pay per second (Linux) or per hour (Windows) OS.

    Wastage is likely: In case of on-demand capacity which is not sure how much capacity they actually need for a particular use case, leading to increased cost.

    Azure Reserved VMs pricing: It is an Azure cloud pricing model where Azure Reserved Virtual Machine Instances (RVMI)—virtual machines are purchased for one or three years in a specific region offering a 72% discount off pay-as-you-go pricing.
