    • A Guide to the Team: The scrum master ensures that all the team members understand and follow the scrum processes. I have seen that they also help schedule important events like Daily Standup and Sprint Review to facilitate them for projects. It helps ensure that the Agile team follows the prescribed structure of all scrum practices for future scrum master roles. 
    • Removes Challenges: The scrum master shields the team by helping them eliminate all obstacles and address the challenges hindering their progress during any project. It helps create a smooth workflow, which allows the team to deliver value.
    • Promotes Collaboration: A scrum master encourages open communication among the Agile team members. Being a professional in the same field, it helped me bridge the gap between different roles to foster a proper culture of teamwork.

    • Team Protection: I also protect the team as a scrum master from various disruptions and work pressure. They ensure that the members focus on delivering quality work within Sprint. So, it prevents them from getting distracted by changes from the stakeholders’ side.
    • Stakeholder Management: The scrum master teaches stakeholders about Agile practices and principles. It helps manage expectations from the latter’s side. This alignment between the team and stakeholders maintains a positive throughout the project.

    The tech job market experienced many ups and downs in 2022. Many even feared the scrum master’s demand in 2023 would decrease with fears of recession and layoff. That leaves us with a question - what is the future of scrum masters now? Let us look into some facts before concluding it. 

    I have checked the latest statistics which suggest that around 66% of organizations currently work with Scrum. So, the demand for professionals who know the Agile framework has increased. Moreover, the term ‘scrum master’ was found around 119,428 times across different portals for job postings. But that’s not all. The job growth for scrum masters is also expected to increase by 24% by 2026. It clearly states that the future scope of scrum master is promising, with a huge demand for professionals. 

    The future of scrum master is also defined by the various job roles available for the professionals in the current context.

    1. Product Owner

    A scrum master who wants to work on the business aspect of product development processes can become a product owner. So, as a professional, I will be responsible for the outcome of the respective project. It will also require the prioritization of product backlogs to maximize value streams.

    Agile methodology has already been integrated with digital technologies and practices. The process helps enhance and streamline all software development processes. So, the future of scrum master lies in leveraging certain platforms like cloud and machine learning algorithms to keep up with the trend. It will help the professionals gain insights into the team’s performance and identity challenges to make decisions on further improvement. 

    2. Incorporating DevOps and Lean Principles in Agile Teams

    Scrum will witness an increase in hybrid approaches that include multiple methodologies other than Agile.
